Easter weekend- we put a hangi in the ground, Finn had to help with the preparation of the meat and veges, Finn
helped the boys dig the hole and get the fire going, we then waited for 4 hours and while we waited we went to shoot a goat and put the goat into the river to try get an
eel. So we put a line down in the river and left it there for a few hours, and we went home and had our yummy hangi for dinner then went back down and checked our line with the hook on it and had an eel. We had such a good Easter weekend on farm.
The hangi food looked so tasty.
What was the best part of making
a hangi Finn?
This is such an amazing thing to do over easter weekend Finn! I have never been to a hangi before but it sounds incredible. Was it hard work digging the hole in the ground?
ReplyDeleteMrs Loudon- the best part of making the hangi was getting the fire going and I liked throwing all the sticks and bits of wood in the fire I really enjoyed eating the eel for lunch the next day too!

Papatūānuku team- maybe if you get a chance you should try it- so worth all the effort! The hole wasn’t very hard to dig, it was only a little hole.

Hi Finn,
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing experience for you, and I bet you liked helping your dad. I can imagine what fun it was throwing those sticks and bits of wood into the fire. Had you tried eating eel before?
I do love a hangi. What a great idea for the Easter Weekend! How did you eat your eel? I had eel the other too, and we had it as a pate with sour cream in it. So delicious and good for you! Did you know that it's full of Omega 3? That means that it's great for your brain.
