Can you find our Christmas tree?

We had such fun designing our class Christmas tree.

The trees were collected today to be taken to shops in Gisborne.

I wonder where we will  find our Christmas tree!

We love reading!

One of our favourite things we do each day is, " Feed and read". We love eating our brain food and listen to stories at the same time. Here are some photos of our year 5's reading to us.

 What is your favourite book?

Diwali and Nekoda

We got him this suit for Diwali that is this Saturday.  We are celebrating this festival of victory of light over darkness with fireworks, festive lights, sweets and home decorators. His suit is made in India and is made from a Cotton Blend with gold colours and red. They call this a Sherwani Style Kurta Set and he looks very handsome in it.  ( from Nekoda's family)

Have a very special day tomorrow with your

family and friends Nekoda.

Fun with Rhyme

We have been reading lots of books with Rhyme - cat/rat to help the children get their ears tuned into rhyme. Nursery rhymes are great as well.

The children drew their own pictures eg Snake on a cake, parrot on a carrot.

The children are loving hearing and saying silly rhymes as well.

Practising Kapa haka song using our class site

These children are on our class site practising our waitata  for the Kapa Haka festival.

The children found the videos by going to " being a learner page" and clicking on there.

Independent drawing and writing table in Ruaumoko

We all love our writing table. Here are some photos of what the children have been drawing and writing by themselves.

What do you like drawing and writing  about?

Please write back and tell us!

Being safe in the sun!

Well done Ruaumoko learners wearing your sun hats. We are very responsible for our own hats. We keep them in our bag. Its great having the names on the hats!

Buster's first day at school

A big big welcome to Buster. He started school yesterday. We sang happy birthday to him at the beginning of the day.

Buster is finding a  letter in our news book.

We love eating while we listen to Mrs Loudon reading us stories.
We call this "feed and read''.

Paper free lunch boxes in Ruaumoko

Wow! What environmentalist we are!  Look at all the lunch boxes with no paper rubbish.

We are trying really hard not to bring chip packets, glad wrap etc to school in our lunch boxes.

Why do you think we need to have rubbish free

lunch boxes?

What could you use instead of a  chippie packet?

Puzzle Experts

We have been working together to complete our alphabet puzzles.

We are going to help other friends with these puzzles.

Look at Noah matching the pictures and letters.
Will you be able to help me find the rest of the pictures
 please Kind Noah?

Nekoda completed this puzzle all by himself. We were all very proud of Nekoda.

Ollie and Benny are working on this puzzle. I wonder what it will be when completed.

Heze and Finn made these words all by themselves.  Well done boys.

Weston and Onyx did this all by themselves. They were very proud of themselves. The boys were also very responsible as they worked together outside on the deck.

Ball skills with Crystal.

We love Thursday mornings as we get to do mad ball skills! This week we learnt how to work as a team . We wore  coloured bibs so we knew which team to pass the ball to!

What ball game do you like best?

Saturday Soccer

Gavin and I rugged up warmly and went to see the children from Ruaumoko playing soccer. They certainly played as a team and never gave up!

 Look who we saw?

Poor Theo must still be sick.
 Get better soon Theo.

Mad ball skills

We love having Onyx's mum come every Thursday to teach us mad ball skills. Cristal has such a lovely way with her words and with the children.

Making friends today

We have been learning what to do if we don't have a friend either in the classroom or especially in the play ground.

We have to be kind, share and how to ask if you want to join in a game.

We also found out what our friends liked doing.

We like sitting by our friends when we are having our morning tea and lunch.

Which song did you like singing about making friends?
