Uenuku at the Turanganui Kapa Haka Festival

Our new alphabet game!
We were so excited to see what games Mrs Loudon had bought us!
These games are going to help us with our writing and reading.
Olive says, "I really like that we can play them with friends!"
Hayley and Tommy worked together to play the games. They worked together to make a choice and kept going until they had used up all the cards to make words.
We think our new games are great.
Some of them are a bit tricky and we are going to learn how to play them as a class.

Word Power
We have been learning about Word Power. We were practicing writing our words. Some of our words came straight from our mouths. Other words we wrote came from our alphabet and word cards.
We enjoyed finding our words on our word cards and writing them.
We didn't think anything was tricky today, but we really want to keep getting better at writing our words.

Introducing Uenuku
Kia ora,
We are a group of learners from Makaraka School. We have just started school and are looking forward to sharing our learning with you.
Today, we're going to share our self-portraits with you. Mrs Loudon took photos of us and then we drew our picture of ourselves.
We were learning to draw pictures of ourselves. We had to make sure to add eyelashes and hair and all our details.
We really enjoyed adding all the parts of our face, especially our eyelashes!
We have been practicing so that next time our drawings will be even better.
